What is JWT?

JWT (JSON Web Token) is an internet standard for a compact and self-contained mode of securing the transmission of information between two parties. A JWT can be signed with a secret or public/private key by using RSA or ECDSA. The information in a JWT is encoded and digitally signed with JSON Web Encryption (JWE).
