What is Federation Broker?

A Federation Broker is a service that sits between identity providers (IdPs) and service providers (SPs). It manages the trust, protocols (like SAML or OIDC), and user mapping so that different identity sources can connect more easily. Instead of each IdP connecting to every service, the broker provides one central connection point. This lets users log in with their existing credentials, while the service only talks to the broker. In B2B IAM and Partner IAM, federation brokers are critical for Bring Your Own Identity (BYOI) and partner access at scale.
