Identity provider (IDP)
Back to glossary
What is Identity provider (IDP)?
An identity provider (IdP) manages, stores, and secures digital identities. It keeps a list of users who can access certain resources and provides authentication and authorization at sign-in. IdPs can authenticate users through methods like social login, email login, or existing account credentials. They are often used in cloud computing, allowing users to sign in with existing accounts instead of creating new ones.
